If you're experiencing loading issues, error messages, missing portfolios, or problems accessing Simply Wall St, this guide will walk you through the most common causes and solutions. Error: "We're Sorry You Ran Into a Bug!" or "Unknown Error Has Occurred"

These error messages are commonly caused by outdated cached data, corrupted cookies, or app data that prevents Simply Wall St from loading correctly. Follow the steps below based on where you're experiencing the issue.

Mobile App

  1. Update the App

    Check the Google Play Store or Apple App Store and ensure you're using the latest version of the Simply Wall St app.

  2. Reinstall the App

    If updating doesn't resolve the issue, uninstall and reinstall the Simply Wall St app.

Web Browser

If you're seeing this error while using the Simply Wall St website, the issue is commonly caused by outdated browser cache or cookies. Follow the guide below, depending on your browser: 

Note: These steps only remove cached data and cookies for Simply Wall St. Your browsing history and data for other websites will remain unchanged.
 

To clear the cache for a specific website in Google Chrome, you can either:

Option 1: Use the Chrome Shortcut Link 

This is the quickest way to remove cached data for Simply Wall St only.

  1. Open Google Chrome.
  2. Copy and paste the following URL into the address bar and press Enter:

    chrome://settings/content/all?searchSubpage=simplywall.st&search=cookies
  3. You will see the stored data for Simply Wall St.
  4. Click Delete displayed data.
  5. Return to Simply Wall St and refresh the page. If needed, close and reopen Chrome before signing in again.

Option 2: Clear the Data Manually

If the shortcut above doesn't work, you can remove the site data through Chrome's settings.

  1. Open Google Chrome and click the ⋮ (three dots) in the upper-right corner.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Go to Privacy and security and click Site settings.
  4. Select View permissions and data stored across sites.
  5. Search for simplywall.st or locate Simply Wall St in the list.
  6. Click the Delete (trash) icon next to the site and confirm the action.
  7. Return to the Simply Wall St website and refresh the page. If the issue persists, close and reopen Chrome before signing in again.

To clear the cache for Simply Wall St in Mozilla Firefox, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the Privacy and Security settings on the left-hand side of the browser.
  2. Scroll down to the Cookies and site data section and click Manage data
  3. Locate Simply Wall St in the list of websites, or use the search bar to type simply wall.st.
  4. Select the site, click Remove selected, and then click Save changes.
  5. Confirm the action by clicking Remove. 
  6. Return to the Simply Wall St tab and refresh the page or restart Firefox to ensure the changes are applied.

To clear the website cache for Simply Wall St in the Safari browser, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Safari menu from the top bar and select Settings.
  2. Navigate to the Privacy tab within the settings window.
  3. Select Manage Website Data to view the list of websites currently storing data.
  4. Locate Simply Wall St by scrolling through the list or by typing simplywall.st into the search bar.
  5. Select the site, click Remove, and then click Done.
  6. If the changes are not immediately apparent, refresh the webpage or restart the Safari browser.

To clear the cache and data for the Simply Wall Street website in Microsoft Edge, follow these steps:

  1. Click the three dots in the top right corner and select Settings.
  2. Select Privacy, search, and services.
  3. Scroll down to select Cookies and site data, then choose See all cookies and site data.
  4. Find Simply Wall St in the list or use the search bar to look for simplywall.st
  5. Click the arrow to expand the stored cookies and data, and delete individual items using the trash icon, or remove all listed data by selecting Remove all shown and confirming by clicking Clear.
  6. Return to the Simply Wall St tab and refresh the page, or restart the browser to ensure the changes take effect.

Mobile Browser

iPhone & iPad

Chrome on iPhone and iPad does not currently support clearing cached data and cookies for a single website. To remove outdated data that may be causing issues with Simply Wall St, you'll need to clear your browser's cookies and cache.

  1. Open the Chrome app and tap the ⋮ (More) menu.
  2. Select Settings and tap Privacy and Security.
  3. Select Delete Browsing Data.
  4. Choose Cookies, Site Data (and Cached Images and Files, if available).
  5. Tap Delete Browsing Data to confirm.
  6. Reopen Chrome and sign in to Simply Wall St again.

Note: Clearing cookies will sign you out of websites and may remove saved preferences.
 

Android

  1. Open the Chrome app and visit Simply Wall St
  2. Tap the Site information icon (to the left of the address bar).
  3. Tap Cookies and site data.
  4. Next to the stored data, tap Delete.
  5. Tap Done, refresh the page, and sign in again

To clear the cache and cookies for Simply Wall St in Safari on mobile (iOS/iPadOS), follow the instructions below: 

  1. Open your iPhone or iPad Settings.
  2. Scroll down and tap Apps, then select Safari.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the Safari menu and tap Advanced.
  4. Tap Website Data at the top of the screen.
  5. Use the search bar and search for simplywall.st 
  6. Swipe left on the website's name and tap Delete, or tap Edit in the bottom-right corner and tap the red minus icon.

Missing Portfolio or Incorrect Data

If your portfolios, watchlists, or subscription access appear to be missing, you may be signed in using a different email address than the one associated with your account.

Check Your Account Email Address

Verify that you're logged in using the correct email address by going to the User Profile > Email Address

Common signs that you may be signed into the wrong account include:

  • Missing portfolios
  • Missing watchlists
  • Missing subscription access
  • Different account information than expected
