Creating a Manual Portfolio

What is a Manual Portfolio

A manual portfolio is one where you enter all investment details by hand. This approach gives you full control but demands consistent effort to maintain accurate and up-to-date records.

Understanding Holdings vs. Transactions

Before creating your portfolio, it’s important to understand the difference between Holdings and Transactions types of portfolio:

  • Holdings: Holdings offers a snapshot of your current portfolio. By entering the average price of your shares and the number of shares you hold, you can easily see your unrealised gains. If you’re looking for a quick and simple setup, this tool is an excellent option for you.

  • Transactions: Transactions include all buying and selling activities over time. This type of portfolio allows users to track every transaction and receive accurate analysis and detailed returns reports.

Visit our Getting Started article here to learn more about the differences and help you choose the best portfolio creation method.

Creating a Portfolio With Transactions

This type of portfolio is designed to allow you to monitor each individual transaction—whether it’s a purchase or sale—ensuring complete transparency and control. With this detailed tracking, users can receive a more accurate analysis of their portfolio’s performance, allowing investors to make well-informed decisions based on historical data and current trends.

There are three ways to enter transactions in a portfolio, select from the below to see more information and expanded instructions:
