In a Bit More Detail
Choose "Broker Linking" if...
You want a "set it and forget it" portfolio and your broker is supported.
This is the easiest and most automated method. Securely connect your brokerage account, and we'll import your current holdings for you. Your portfolio will then sync daily to stay up to date automatically.
Note: Currently, linking provides a live snapshot of your holdings. Full transaction history support is coming soon to enable an even deeper analysis.
✅ Best for: An automated portfolio that's always current.
What you need:
Choose "Opening Balances" if...
You have your basic holding details on hand and want the fastest manual start.
This "snapshot" method is perfect if you want to see your holdings analyzed without digging up your entire trade history. You'll enter the companies you own, the number of shares, and either the average price you paid or your total cost basis. After setup, you can keep the portfolio current by adding new transactions as they happen.
✅ Best for: A quick overview and immediate analysis.
Choose "Trade History" if...
You want the most powerful and accurate analysis from day one.
This method lets you upload your transaction history a file (you can download it from your broker) or enter manually. By providing your full history, you unlock your true performance, including:
Detailed return calculations over time
The impact of dividends on your returns
Realized and unrealized gains
Your Annualized Return (IRR*)
✅ Best for: Investors who want a precise and detailed view of their performance from the start.
*IRR is your annualized return, a standard metric that shows how your investment grew over time, accounting for when you bought, sold, and received dividends.
The Bottom Line
For the easiest, automated experience, choose Broker Linking.
For a quick manual start, choose Opening Balances.
For the most accurate, detailed analysis, choose Trade History.
