How To's:

How to Update Your Transactions Portfolio

Here are the usual updates or modifications done on a Transactions portfolio, along with step-by-step instructions:

  1. Go to the bottom part of the Holdings section of your portfolio and click on Edit all transactions. Alternatively, you can locate the specific stock you want to update and open its transaction history.
  2. Find the transaction you want to update and click on it to open the details. You can add, remove, and modify fields like the transaction date, amount, price, or type (Buy/Sell). Make your necessary changes.
  3. After editing, click Save to apply the changes to your portfolio.

Here's how it is in action (Desktop version):

  1. Go to the bottom part of the Holdings section of your portfolio and click on Edit all transactions. Alternatively, you can locate the specific stock you want to update and open its transaction history.
  2. Select the transaction you want to remove, then press the Backspace or Delete key on your keyboard.
  3. Once you’ve removed the desired transactions, click Save to apply the changes to your portfolio.

If you want to record reinvested dividends manually, there’s a simple workaround you can use to ensure the data is captured accurately in your portfolio. Click on an empty cell, fill in the details:

  • Date: Enter the dividend reinvestment date.
  • Ticker: Enter the stock that paid the dividend.
  • Shares: Enter the number of shares acquired from the reinvestment
  • Transaction Type: Enter "Buy"
  • Price: Enter 0.001 (a symbolic near-zero value)

Note: Currently, the system doesn't allow you to input a price of 0. Using 0.0001 ensures the system accepts the transaction and reflects the new shares without distorting your returns or total portfolio value significantly.

Currently, transactions from a file cannot be directly imported into an existing portfolio. As a workaround, you can manually copy and paste the transactions into the Edit Portfolio page. Here are the steps on how to do this:

  1. Go to the bottom part of the Holdings section of your portfolio and click on Edit all transactions.
  2. Open your file with your transactions. Select and copy the relevant transaction details (e.g., date, type, ticker, number of shares, price).
  3. Paste the transaction details into the corresponding fields.
  4. Review the entries to make sure everything matches correctly.
  5. Save your changes, and your portfolio will now be updated with the new transactions.

Three simple steps:

  2. To edit the number of shares or average price, just simply select the table or specific cell and then type to input the new value.
  3. Click on the Done button to close the modal.

How to Calculate Average Price?

To calculate the Average Price, simply get the total cost of the transaction from your broker's account, then divide it by the number of shares transacted, the result should be your average price that you need to input in the system.

Average Price = Total Transaction Cost ÷ Total Shares
Where,
Total Transaction Cost = Total Shares X Price
Total Shares = The total shares you bought

Sample calculation:
If you bought 2 shares of a stock at $125 with $50 as brokerage (and other costs), you compute the average price as:
Average Price = [(Total Shares X Price) + Add on cost] ÷ Total Shares
= [(2 X 125) + 50] ÷ 2 = $150
Thus, instead of using the $125 as your price, you are going to use the average price of $150
